Inside the Mad Sails Loft

Mad Sails operates from a modern sail loft in Wisconsin, purpose-built in 2022 to support high-quality custom sail design and manufacturing. Our 1,800 sq/ft Cleary building sits just west of Madison on the edge of the Driftless Area—a quiet, inspiring setting where we focus on precision and craftsmanship.

While we work closely with local sailors on nearby lakes, we design and build the majority of our sails for customers across the United States, shipping custom sails nationwide.

Built for Precision and Efficiency

Unlike traditional sail lofts—where sailmakers often work on the floor—MAD Sails uses large elevated workbenches and rolling tables to assemble nearly every sail. This approach improves accuracy, reduces fatigue, and allows us to maintain consistent quality across every project.

Our loft features:

• Five industrial sewing stations
• Oversized workbenches for full sail layouts
• Mobile tables that adapt to complex builds and new sail designs
• Dedicated storage for materials and finished sails

This flexible workspace allows us to optimize workflow, handle detailed custom projects, and continue refining new sail designs.
